Quantity Surveyor – Drive Profitability and Excellence in Construction

The Role
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be at the forefront of cash management, minimising costs, and maximising value through proactive analysis and facilitation. Your expertise will ensure accurate reporting of past costs and future financial projections while adhering to our Quality Management System (ISO9001).
Key Responsibilities
Delivery:
- Collaborate with Production and Technical Leads to identify risks and scope within programmes and designs.
- Actively participate in design meetings, ensuring timely resolution of actions.
Financial Management:
- Prepare and manage contract sum analysis and cash flow to maintain positive project cash flow and achieve a minimum of 10% overvalue.
- Produce valuations to maximise cash position, ensuring timely payments and retention release.
- Review drawings for cost-saving opportunities while maintaining compliance with employer requirements.
- Place timely subcontract orders, manage payments, and ensure compliance with terms and conditions.
- Prepare accurate monthly Cost Value Comparisons (CVCs) and final project outturn cost sheets.
- Negotiate and agree on external and subcontractor final accounts.
People Leadership:
- Mentor and develop trainee/assistant surveyors as required.
- Collaborate across departments to drive effective communication and problem-solving.
Success Measures:
- Timely placement of subcontract orders aligned with procurement schedules.
- Accurate and well-documented CVCs.
- Efficient subcontractor payments and account remeasurement.
- Proactive involvement in design details to influence adherence to building controls.
- Effective management of final accounts, including forecasting and reporting.
About You
- Relevant Quantity Surveying qualification, degree, or HND/HNC in Building Studies.
- Membership of MCIOB or RICS preferred.
- Proven experience in construction budgets, techniques, and joint venture schemes.
- Strong commercial background with contractors or residential developers.
- Knowledge of UK building regulations, health and safety requirements, and Value Engineering.
- Competency in remeasurement for piling, groundwork, RC frame, and brickwork.
- Expertise in Demolition, Civils, RC Frame, Basement Works, and Metsec systems.
- Exceptional numerical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Leadership capabilities to mentor teams and drive performance.
